How it all started

The FIVE SENSES HOSPITALITY has been created by Edgar Lagassi with the help of his two friends and business partners; Andrius Kulbokas and Mariusz Szymecki.

We have always dreamed to share a desire to translate our previous experiences in hospitality in an environment that stood closer to our ideas of what a lifestyle dining destination should be like. Each of us at some stage of our professional careers have had the chance to work at some of the most iconic hotels, restaurants and bars around the world.

Our experience, confidence, knowledge and most importantly the passion for good food, service and drinks brought us together in London to create something very special that we could help other businesses and private equity investors around the world.

Our mission

Is to guide and support you from day one helping with your set-up, launch, and continued success, whether you are an established restaurant planning to expand or a small independent café that needs to be re-launched.

We help you develop concepts and formulas that more than justify the investment. Concepts that appeal to all senses, including sight, taste, smell, hearing and touch.

What we do

We are able to develop and implement everything from one single Food & Beverage Concept development to total concepts for complete F&B areas.

We can help you with anything from catering for a small group in a luxury hotel restaurant to serving huge F&B areas by optimizing performance.

Our way of working

When developing or optimizing your concept, our team works with a proven model. This starts with a detailed analysis by mapping out the potential of a location. After the analysis follows the briefing phase, the implementation and the audit. Our kitchen functionality specialist starts to draw in the required equipment and our designers work out the concept in detail.

What we offer:

QUICK SCAN

Short-term sprints that can be completed in 30–45 days. Strategy sessions, feasibility studies, second opinions, market landscape reports, assessments and advisory not requiring fieldwork, site visits, or more than three associates to be involved with deliverables presented electronically.

F&B CONCEPT PLAN

Typically 12–24 weeks with a dedicated engagement Manager with requirements for travel with 2 to 5 associates, fieldwork and site visits, in-person presentations, and comprehensive work product such as long-range corporate plans, commercial and operational due diligence, and enterprise-level diagnostics and performance optimization program development.

TOTAL F&B CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

After the completion of a first phase project or engagement, we typically structure subsequent work for on-going advisory services and implementation support on a retainer basis in 12 to 24 months commitments.

PARTNERSHIP & CONTRACT MANAGEMENT

These partnerships fully leverage our global know-how and know-who and are often best suited when we serve as an operating partner (including working with private equity firms acquiring and growing restaurant chains or partnering with foodservice technology companies to support expansion).

These arrangements can be complicated and time-consuming to co-create based on defined targets and timelines, so we only move forward with such an arrangement after first completing an initial project or engagement.

Our services

We work with businesses of all shapes and sizes - creating new concepts and food strategies, leading innovation and menu development, mentoring food development teams and driving operational excellence.

Working alongside founders and other stakeholders, we will bring the vision to life, develop the food and drink offer and train your team for success.

Thinking about investing?

If buying an existing business doesn't sound right for you, but starting from scratch sounds a bit intimidating, you could be suited for one of our concept’s franchises. Essentially, you will only pay an initial fee and ongoing royalties to Five Senses. In return, you will gain the use of a trademark, ongoing support from us, the right to use our systems of doing business, sell its products or services and most importantly avoid a lot of the mistakes start-up entrepreneurs typically make. In addition to that we can also manage the business on your behalf with our experienced international team.

Finally, franchisees enjoy the benefit of strength in numbers. You'll gain from economics of scale in buying supplies and services, such as advertising, as well as in negotiating for locations, refurbishment and lease terms. By comparison, independent operators must negotiate on their own, usually getting less favourable terms. Some suppliers won't deal with new businesses or will reject your business because your account isn't big enough.

The Advantages

The greatest strength of franchising is its ability to bring independent restaurants together using a single trademark or same umbrella business concepts. For the individual owner, there are several advantages to franchising:

  • Reduction of risk
  • Standardized products and systems
  • Standardized financial and accounting systems
  • Collective buying power
  • Supervision and consulting readily available
  • National and local advertising
  • Point-of-sale advertising
  • Uniform packaging
  • Ongoing research and development
  • Site selection guidance
  • Operations manual provided
  • Sales and marketing assistance

The ever-present risk of business failure is reduced when the business program has already proved to be successful in the marketplace; the use of an established trademark saves the business owner the cost of creating and advertising a name that customers will recognize; and the advantages of group advertising and purchasing make operations more profitable. In addition, ongoing training creates an instant operational expertise that would otherwise need to be acquired through trial and error. Also, with franchising, expansion seems to come more naturally.

Juicy Lucy is an exciting retro diner & bar serving tasty burgers stuffed with cheese, as well as small bites to share served street food style, classic cocktails and innovative drinks.

Beatnik is a globally influenced seafood restaurant that blends great seafood with MediterrAsian fusion cuisine. A streaming of shareable style of service with an open-air dining room interactive atmosphere.

A self-styled New York-style steakhouse that serves up some seriously gourmet meat and surf & turf dishes.

About us

We love food and everything that has to do with food, beverage and services. Our experience has taught us that a good Food and Beverage concept consists of two main ingredients: the head and the heart.

The head provides research, a logical way of working, practical thinking and commercial value. From all these, we gain greater understanding. At the same time, the heart gives us creativity, flavour, feeling, empathy, the inexplicable, emotion, the human factor.
